Perf Budget Guardian v0.2.5 · Last updated: 12 September 2026

The short version: everything Perf Budget Guardian records stays inside your browser on your device. The one and only network request the extension ever makes is a licence check for Pro customers — it sends the licence key and the extension version, and nothing else. No metrics, no page addresses, no history ever leave your computer. No accounts, no analytics, no tracking.

1. Who we are

Perf Budget Guardian is developed and operated by 3iApps, a trading name of 3D-Prototype Ltd (Company No. 08788558, ICO registration ZA583291). You can reach us at support@3iapps.com.

2. What the Extension measures

Perf Budget Guardian uses standard browser performance APIs (PerformanceObserver and related web-vitals measurements) to capture timing and resource metrics for the page you are viewing: Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS), Interaction to Next Paint (INP, approximated), Time to First Byte (TTFB), request count, and transfer size.

The Extension does not read, copy, or transmit the content of the pages you visit. It reads timing and count information only.

3. Where your data lives

All measurements, session history, alert history, and your settings are stored locally in your browser using IndexedDB and chrome.storage. This data:

Never leaves your device except as described in section 5a below.
Is not visible to us, to 3iApps, or to any third party.
Is deleted only when you clear it yourself (Settings → Delete all data), when your browser's storage for the extension is cleared, or when you uninstall the Extension.

4. Permissions the Extension requests, and why

storage / unlimitedStorage — to save your budgets, preferences, and (Pro) session and alert history locally.
notifications — to show a desktop notification when a budget is exceeded (Pro feature; off by default has no effect on this permission's use).
tabs — to read the active tab's ID and URL so captured metrics can be shown against the page they came from, and so the toolbar badge reflects the tab you're viewing. No browsing history is stored.
alarms — to schedule local housekeeping: pruning old data per your retention setting, and (Pro) a once-daily licence re-check.
host permissions (all sites) — required so the measurement script can run on the pages you visit. It only reads timing and resource-count data that the browser itself generates.

It does not transmit your browsing or performance data off your device — ever. The sole network request is the Pro licence check described in section 5a. Free-tier use makes zero network requests.

5a. The licence check (Pro only)

If you activate a Pro licence or the extension periodically re-verifies one, it sends a single request to our licence server (a Cloudflare Worker operated by 3iApps) containing exactly two things: your licence key and the extension version. The server responds with whether the key is valid. Nothing about your browsing, metrics, settings, or history is included, and the free tier and free trial never contact the server at all. Purchases are processed by Stripe under Stripe's own privacy policy; we never see or store your card details.

6. Your rights

Because we never collect or receive your personal data or browsing information, there is nothing of yours on our servers to access, correct, or delete on your behalf — your data is already entirely in your own hands, in your own browser. If you purchased Pro, Stripe holds your payment and billing details as an independent data controller; contact them, or us at support@3iapps.com and we will help route the request.

If you are in the UK or EEA, you have rights under the UK GDPR / EU GDPR in relation to any data a data controller does hold about you (for example, Stripe's payment records). See section 1 for how to contact us.

7. Children

Perf Budget Guardian is a developer tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, of any age, beyond what is described above.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top will change, and material changes will be noted in the Extension's changelog. Continued use of the Extension after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
